Jennifer Alice Holly (Atkin) - age 58, from the Charlotte area of North Carolina, passed away on December 4, 2019.
Jennifer was born on November 24, 1961 in Painesville, Ohio, to Donald Lynn Atkin and Barbara June Atkin. She grew up with her three sisters Deborah Lee Gaddy, Diane Lynn Whittenburg, and Denise Marie Douglas. She was preceded in death by her sister Diane and her mother Barbara.
She first met the love of her life Timothy Arden Holly in 1982. Her family hosted his family while they were traveling through Charlotte. Even though she had laryngitis, there was an immediate connection. A few weeks later, Tim was eagerly waiting for her when she came to visit a mutual friend and they went on a hike. Their first date was bowling and pizza, and they were joyfully married on January 14, 1984.
Family was her life and she fiercely loved her sons Jonathan Andrew Holly and Jeremy Alan Holly. When they both got married, she warmly welcomed her two daughters Angela Lee Holly and Hannah Elizabeth Holly into the family. She was an amazing mother who wholeheartedly supported your hopes and dreams, and made you believe you could do anything. She nourished and empowered everyone in her life, including her extended family and the many foster children she and Tim took care of over the years.
Jennifer treasured every moment with her family, and her favorite time of year was Christmas. Immediately after Thanksgiving, the whole family would spend the day transforming the entire house, which included a giant Christmas tree with hundreds of ornaments she carefully collected over the years and a miniature village that was slowly expanding into a metropolis. She was also a talented interior decorator who enjoyed shopping and finding that next treasure to bring home. She delighted in her roses, enjoyed singing, and loved visiting the Great Smoky Mountains. She was a skilled strategist when playing board games, and attacking her was the quickest way to lose.
Blessed with the gift of hospitality, everyone felt loved in her presence. She loved dearly, gave freely, and exemplified Jesus immaculately.
Romans 12:9-13 - Don't just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other. Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically. Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying. When God's people are in need, be ready to help them. Always be eager to practice hospitality.
A celebration of life will be held to honor Jennifer's memory on Saturday December 14, 2019 from 3:00 - 5:00 PM at Siler Presbyterian Church (Fellowship Hall) 6301 Weddington Monroe Road, Matthews, NC 28104.
