Jennie Mae Hewitt, 71, of Monroe, NC, passed away on October 22nd, 2026 at Atrium Health Hospice of Monroe, NC. She was born on June 24th 1955 in Union, NC to Boyce R Helms and Evelyn Poplin Helms. Jennie grew up in Monroe, NC. Later working in Manufacturing before retiring.

Jennie married Charlie Hewitt, and together they shared a fulfilled life of sweet fun memories. She was known for being funny, motivated, and loving. She had a passion for her yard of statues guns. She loved her children and her chihuahuas. She met no stranger and was filled with love and a firecracker personality.

In addition to her parents, Jennie was preceded by her son Leslie Thompson, and sister Barbara R Weir.

Jennie is survived by her spouse, Charles Hewitt, her children, Jan Howell, Rocky Strader, and Daughter in law Eva Strader, Her grandchildren, Tiffany Estelle and Amy Shifflett, Brother Gene Rowell (Wife) Mary, Sister Eva Spaide, (Husband) Donald, and Marie Rowell. Many nieces and nephews.

A viewing was held on October 27th, 2026 at Holland Funeral Service, 806 Circle Drive Monroe NC, 28112. A celebration of life will be held on November 7th, 2026 at 3:30pm, Philadelphia Baptist Church,5709 Philadelphia Church Rd. Marshville, NC 28103 for friends and family to join.
