Jean Cain Philemon, 72, of Monroe, North Carolina went home to heaven on Wednesday, June 17, 2026. She passed away in the home she shared with her husband of 51 years, Larry Philemon.

Jean was born on May 10th, 1954 in Cumberland County and was one of 5 daughters to Wilbur Wadis Cain and Grace Lucy James. She was known as a Wife, Mother, and Grandmother.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Larry Philemon; their children Jonathan (spouse Suzanne), Daniel (spouse Lindsay), and Rebecca (spouse Adam), their grandchildren: Cole, Bella, Bryce, Aubrey, Ally, Maura, and Jenna, and her sisters Susie Dowd (spouse Steve), Margie Simpson, Shirley Dresch (spouse Jeff) and brother-in-law Allen Hughes.

Jean was a seamstress who could sew clothes, quilt blankets, and crochet. She loved making baby blankets for family and friends and dresses for the little girls. She was passionate about giving back and enjoyed participating in Operation Christmas Child, because she believed every child should have a toy. But her greatest joy was her family and being Grandma.

Jean is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Teresa Hughes, and brother-in-law Ronnie Simpson.

A celebration of life will be held at Ebenezer Baptist Church, on Friday, June 26th, visitation will be from 1pm-3pm with services following. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations made to Union County Hospice in her memory.
