Dateline: Monroe Jay Larry Helms, 71, passed away April 30, 2019. Mr. Helms was born in Mecklenburg County, NC, on November 8, 1947 to the late John Holland Helms and Janie Ruth Helms. A service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, May 2, 2019 at Solid Rock Baptist Church. A visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 1:00 PM. Mr. Helms will be laid to rest immediately following the service in the Wingate Town Cemetery. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife Carole B. Helms; step-sons, Ron Griffin and Jeff Griffin; and several grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Todd Helms; and daughter, Tonya Michelle Rhinhardt. Holland Funeral Service & Crematory is serving the family.
