Gregory "Derrick" Gay, age 29 went home to be with his Lord and Saviour on December 7, 2020. Derrick was born in Monroe, North Carolina to Greg and Beverly Gay on July 1, 1991 and was an identical twin. Derrick will be remembered for his sweet spirit that was contagious in any room that he walked into. Derrick was kindhearted and would give the shirt off his back to help anyone in need. Derrick was also known for being loving and most would be greeted by a big ol' bear hug. Derrick will be greatly missed, and no words can express the loss. Derrick is survived by his parents, Greg and Beverly Gay, identical twin brother and best friend Errick Gay, Sisters Beth Hargette, husband Ben and Jessica Gay, boyfriend Hunter Price and his fiancée Anita Bryant. Grandparents Ed and Judy Price. Derrick is also survived by his two nieces Kaylyn and Kindley Hargette who were the apples of his eye. Derrick is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Derrick was predeceased in death by grandparents David and Becky Moore whom we know welcomed him into heaven. Funeral services will be at Bright Spot Baptist Church on Saturday December 12, 2020. Visitation will be from 11-12:50pm and funeral to follow at 1pm. The family request that everyone in attendance wear and mask and maintain social distance. Services will be broadcasted via radio transmitter on 90.1 FM for those who do not feel comfortable coming into the church. Burial will follow at Lakeland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to Jeff Sholar C/O Mitch Bryant 2304 Forbis Lane Monroe NC 28112 or any charity of choice.
