Freda Baucom Simpson, 81, passed away July 29, 2017 at Hospice of Union County. Ms. Simpson was born in Monroe, NC on March 15, 1936 to the late Lula Belle Smith Baucom and Algie Baucom. A service to celebrate Ms. Simpson's life will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at Antioch Baptist Church. A committal service will follow the service in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the committal service in the church fellowship hall. Ms. Simpson is survived by her son, H. Brent Smith Jr. (Leigh J.) of Marshville; daughters, Thetus Simpson Farris (Richard) of Marshville, and Nancy Simpson Pressley (Randy) of Marshville; brothers, Ernest Baucom (Shirley) of Salisbury, and Flynn Baucom (Faye) of Monroe; sister, Mildred Hilder of Charlotte; granddaughters,�Michelle Lewis (Fred) of Monroe, Hannah Pressley of Monroe, and Elizabeth Farris of Covington, Ga.; great grandchildren, Piper Elise Lewis, and Pressley Grace Lewis. In addition to her parents Ms. Simpson was preceded in death by her husband, John Parks Simpson; and sisters, Virginia Tarlton, and Ava Mullis.
