� Ernest William DeVoe, age 97, of Monroe, NC, went to his heavenly home on November 4, 2017. He was a resident of the Jesse Helms Center since August 14, 2017. �He was born on February 24, 1920 to the late Jerome & Kathrine Gleason DeVoe. He was born in West Chester, PA. �Ernest was a veteran of the Army, serving in World War II from 1941-1945. He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Mildred Collins DeVoe. They were married on October 7, 1944. �His three sons, Jerry DeVoe of Monroe, NC, Fred DeVoe & wife Renee of Monroe, NC, and Curtis DeVoe and his wife Donna of Horn Lake, Mississippi. He has 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 3 great, great grandchildren. �Ernest was a longtime member of Cornerstone Community Church of the Nazarene, where he served as Sunday School Secretary for 35 years. �A memorial service will be held at Cornerstone Community Church of the Nazarene on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at 3:00 P.M. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. �The family request that in lieu of flowers, that memorials be made to Cornerstone Community Church of the Nazarene.
