Dateline: Wingate, NC Edwin Mack Goodman, Jr. passed away at Hospice of Monroe on December 14, 2019. He was 82 years old. Born in Charleston, SC on November 23, 1937. Graduated from St. Paul's High School in 1955 and went on to graduate from North Greenville Junior College then Furman University. Son of the late Edwin Mack Goodman, Sr. and the late Evelyn Grayson Goodman. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joyce Inabnett Goodman, three sons, Edwin "Macky"III (Belinda), Todd (Morgan), and Donald (Michelle) seven grandchildren; Ashley (Conner), Zachary, Daniel, Elizabeth, Gabrielle, Emma, and Harlan, and one great grandson, Apollo. Also, three brothers, Grayson, who preceded him in death (Jan), Joe (Liz), and Gary (Brenda). From a young age, Edwin always loved to sing. In college, he was part of a choir that traveled to various churches all over South Carolina. Once he and Joyce wed, he continued that passion over the years through his involvement with the church. He spent his career in personnel and thoroughly enjoyed helping others and being a part of several civic organizations over the years. In addition to the things, Edwin loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed doing crafts, traveling, and dancing with his loving wife. He had a unique talent to command a room with his infectious smile, shared stories, and pure knack for making everyone laugh. His love he held for his family, charismatic personality, and sense of humor was what made him truly one of a kind and someone that we'll have in our hearts forever. A visitation will be held Friday, December 20, 2019 from 10:00 AM until 11:30 AM in the Wingate United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. A service to celebrate his life will be held following the service beginning at 12:00 PM in the Church Sanctuary. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of Union County, 700 West Roosevelt Blvd., Monroe, NC 28110 or Wingate United Methodist Church, PO Box 396, Wingate, NC 28174.
