In Loving Memory of Dr. Drusilla Thomas

June 7, 1965 – November 2, 2025

It is with great sorrow and grateful hearts that we announce the passing of Dr. Drusilla Yevette Brewington Thomas, also known as Mama T, who was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished daughter, and faithful servant of God, who entered eternal rest on November 2, 2025 at the young age of 60.

Born on June 7, 1965, in Wayne County, NC to her loving mother Earlene Brewington Bunn, Dr. Drusilla lived a life rooted in faith, family and enduring love. She shared a beautiful 42 year journey with Rev. David Thomas Sr., 2 years of dating, 3 years engaged, and 37 devoted years of marriage. Together, they built a home overflowing with love, faith, and five wonderful children.

Dr. Drusilla was a woman of unshakable faith who enriched the lives of all who knew her with her wisdom and kind spirit. She found joy in worship, cherishing time with her family, tending to her flower garden, sharing her "wall of knowledge" and inspiring her students throughout teaching.

She earned her Doctorate of Education from UNC Charlotte, an achievement that showcased her intellect, dedication, and passion for shaping the lives of her students. Throughout her career, she taught many fields of science, with chemistry being her favorite, across several schools in Mecklenburg and Union County. Her commitment to education and leadership eventually led her to serve as an assistant principal within the school system. In her retirement, she dedicated her time to writing, completing a soon to be published book titled "Mommy's Little Helper" and beginning work on a second manuscript prior to her illness. These works remain a reflection of her passion for learning and her proudest academic milestones.

Mama T's memory will be cherished forever by her devoted husband, Rev. David Thomas Sr., her five beloved children, David Thomas Jr., Dyllon Thomas (wife Cameron Thomas), Devin Thomas, Daniel Thomas, D'Kayla Thomas and bonus son Jonathan Ashley; as well as her cherished mother, Earlene Brewington Bunn and mother-in-law, Shirley Thomas. Dr. Drusilla's nurturing spirit extended far beyond her own family, she was a mother figure to many and touched countless hearts with her love and kindness.

Her compassion knew no boundaries, she rejoiced with others in their blessings and stood quietly beside them in their trials. Dr. Drusilla's life was a testimony that touched all who knew her. Her wisdom, warmth and steadfast belief in God's goodness will continue to guide her family for years to come.
