Dateline: Monroe Donny Ray Poplin, 61, went to be with Jesus December 20, 2019. Mr. Poplin was born in Union County, NC on June 23, 1958 to the late Ted and Bobbie Poplin. He was past owner and President of Poplin and Sons Machine Company Inc. He proudly served in the Army National Guard for 6 years. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He served the Lord with passion and commitment spreading the Gospel through prison ministry, and the love of music through drums. A visitation will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, December 23, 2019 at Love Baptist Church. A service to celebrate his life will follow at 2:00 PM. Pastor Don Thompson and Rev. Evan Thompson will be officiating. He will be laid to rest at Lakeland Memorial Park with Military honors. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 36 years, Sharon Poplin; daughters, Heather Thompson (Evan), Lindsay Herring (Mitchel); sister, Kathy Presson (Doug); brothers, Ronny Poplin (Freda), Gary Poplin (Carla); grandchildren, Landon Thompson, Lila Thompson, Payton Herring, and Olivia Herring.
