David Ervin Williams, 65, passed away April 22, 2026. He was born in Monroe, North Carolina on June 30, 1960 to Margaret Williams and the late Charles Williams.

A Memorial Service will be held from 4:00pm until 6:00pm on May 3, 2026 at Wingate Baptist Church, 109 E Elm St, Wingate, NC 28174.

Fondly nicknamed as “Mater Head” or “Goob”, David was a jack of all trades. He drove school busses and worked with heavy equipment. He also tinkered with lawn mowers; sometimes breaking them just so he could learn how to put them back together. He was also a handy plumber and a volunteer fire fighter with the Wingate Fire Department. When David wasn’t hard at work, he could often be found fishing or camping out. As a man who never met a stranger, he was always willing to help anyone in need even if it meant he would go without. David had an infectious personality and was always joking around with his friends and family and was ready to have a good time. He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.

David is survived by his daughter, Chrissy Perez (Sebastian), granddaughter, Alexis Perez, Grandson Isaiah Perez, great-granddaughter, Leilani Smith; son, Jameathan Williams (Danielle) and their children, Laina Williams, Dalton Williams, and Harper Williams; son, Jonathan Williams (Kristin) and their children, Maci Williams; mother, Margaret Williams, brother Kelly Williams (Cindy), brother, Alan Williams (Shirley) sister, Laura Ponds (Chris), nephews, Matt Williams and Josh Williams, and nieces, Taylor Walters and Mackenzie Ponds Rape.
