Cecil William Brooks
Cecil William Brooks, 86, of Monroe, NC, went home to be with the Lord on April 7, 2026, at McWhorter Hospice House, surrounded by his loving family.
Born April 28, 1939, in Cabarrus County, Cecil was the son of the late Clifford and Carrie Brooks. He was a master craftsman in tile, marble, and stone, and was the dedicated owner of Brooks Tile & Marble Company for over 50 years. He proudly served the United States Army Reserve and National Guard. He was lovingly known as the “Mayor of Twin Harbor” in Mt. Gilead, NC.
Cecil enjoyed camping, hunting shark teeth, riding his golf cart, eating with his breakfast club at the lake, sitting on his front porch talking with family and friends, and eating ice cream.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Carole B. Brooks; his brother, Curtis Brooks; and his precious pet, Misty.
Cecil is survived by his five children: Pamela Brooks Caskey (David), Vickie Brooks Plyler (Alton), C. Darren Brooks (Dawn C.), Beverly Brooks Stewart (Wes), and Chris Brooks (Dawn B.). He also leaves behind twelve grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, his brothers Craven and Coy Brooks, and his sisters Carole Wilson, Candice Helms, and Carson Helms.
We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the caregivers who provided such tireless and devoted care to Megan Catnot, Mignon Baucom, and Joann Moree. The professionalism and warmth you displayed this past year will always be remembered by our family.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 12, 2026, from 1:30 p.m.to 2:45 p.m. at Holland Funeral Service of Monroe. A funeral service to celebrate Cecil’s life will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel. Burial will take place at Lakeland Memorial Park following the service.
In place of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Union County in memory of Cecil Brooks, to be used towards garden and memorial brick refurbishing.
