Annie Jeanette Purser
January 18, 1939 – March 4, 2026
Annie Jeanette Purser, 87 of New Salem, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at her home on March 4, 2026, surrounded by her loving family after a short illness.
Born on January 18, 1939, in Union County, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late William Mack Helms and Evelyn Wright Helms.
On July 10, 1957, Jeanette married the love of her life, Pliney Oscar Purser. Their 68-year marriage was a beautiful testament to enduring love, partnership, and shared devotion to family and home.
Jeanette dedicated 20 years of her working life to Conbraco Industries (now part of Aalberts integrated piping systems). She was preceded in death by her parents, Mack and Evelyn Helms; her brother Kenneth Helms; and her son Richard Purser.Jeanette is survived by her beloved husband, Pliney Oscar Purser; her son Michael Todd Purser and his wife Molly; her five siblings: Ruth Holman, Joyce Carpenter, Ronald Helms, Patricia Tiddy, and Steve Helms; her grandchildren—Noah, Aaron and Ava (Todd), and Blake Purser (Richard); and a host of cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives she touched deeply.
Jeanette’s warm smile and generous heart made her beloved by all who knew her. Her homemade cakes were legendary throughout the community, and she never hesitated to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. She and Pliney cherished their time together tending their yard at their longtime home in New Salem, spoiling their grandchildren beyond measure, rooting passionately for Duke basketball, and gathering with close family and friends at every opportunity.
Her legacy of kindness, love, and unwavering generosity will forever live on in the hearts of those she held dear.
The family will receive loved ones at Holland funeral home in Monroe, NC on Sunday, March 8 at 2 PM. A service will follow at 3 PM in the funeral home chapel. Friends are invited to gather at the family home following the service for a celebration of her life.
