Ann Elizabeth Martin Curry, 87, of Mount Holly entered her heavenly home on
April 30, 2021 after celebrating nuptials of her great-nephew. A graveside service
to celebrate her amazing life will be held on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at Sharon
Memorial Park Cemetery, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC. Visitation with the
family will be from 10:30 – 11:00 AM with graveside service at 11:00 AM. After
graveside service, family and friends are invited to join Ann's family at Rooster's
Wood-Fired Kitchen, South Park at 6601 Morrison Blvd, Charlotte, NC, (704)

Born October 31, 1933 in Anderson County, South Carolina, Ann is the youngest
daughter and fifth child of the late Savilla Ann Newton & Chesley Wyatt Martin.
She was a 1951 graduate of Central High School and married Richard Golden
"Dick" Behling in 1951 with whom she had four children. For 30 years, she also
was employed in jobs outside her home. She is the widow of James Avery Curry,
Sr. with whom she traveled the country in the entertainment industry.
Ann, also known as "Annie Grannie" will be remembered for her love of people -
never meeting a stranger; her many acts of kindness to others; her gardening
abilities raising the best tomatoes and then canning for her family and neighbors to
enjoy; her many artistic talents of painting, sewing, smocking, & crocheting; and
her love of her family, friends and cats. She was a ten year member of Martha
Reid 19, United Daughters of the Confederacy. Ann is lovingly remembered by
her family and friends for her many acts of kindness for which she gave of herself.
She was predeceased by her husband James Avery Curry; her parents; her siblings:
Helen Louise Martin, Johnson Benjamin Martin, Conrad Warren Martin, and
Newton Duckworth Martin; and her infant son Richard Golden Behling, Jr.
Ann is survived by three children: Sonya Behling King Eason (David W. Jr.) of
Jacksonville, FL, Richard Albert Behling of Mount Holly, and Thomas Arthur
Behling (Deborah) of Iron Station. She is also survived by six grandchildren:
Alexia Elizabeth King, MacKenzie Behling Guida, Charlotte Behling Cox
(Gregory), Christen Behling Setzer (N. Colby), T. Austin Behling, and T. Addison
Behling Stortz. She also has eight great grandchildren and one great-great
grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the United Daughters of the
Confederacy (UDC) Memorial Building Restoration Fund, 328 N. Arthur Ashe
Blvd., Richmond, VA 23220-4009 or to a charity of your choice.
