IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Albert Joseph
Starnes
September 12, 1939 – March 18, 2026
Albert Joseph Starnes, born on September 12, 1939, in Union County, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2026. Throughout his 86 years, Albert lived a life marked by dedication, love, and a deep commitment to both family and community.
Albert's passion for sports was evident early on, and he generously devoted many years to coaching baseball, imparting not only skills but lessons in teamwork and perseverance to countless young athletes. Beyond the diamond, he found joy in golfing, often enjoying moments on the course where his love for competition met a peaceful appreciation of nature. A proud supporter of the UNC Tar Heels, he reveled in the spirit and camaraderie that college basketball brought. Central to his life was his faith and his cherished connection with his church family at Unity ARP, which provided him with strength and fellowship.
His memory is lovingly preserved by his children and their spouses: his daughters Cindy Hildreth(Chris Carnes), Debbie McCray(Benny), and son Bo Starnes(Pattie). Albert’s legacy continues through his grandchildren Jonathan Hildreth (Brittany), Kristen Keller (Brett), Amber Love (Chris), Abby Martin (Daniel), Torie Starnes, and Gracie Starnes. The joy he found in family extended to his great-grandchildren Emerson Hildreth, Ava Love, Eli Love, Luke Love, Rhett Martin, Emry Martin, Reid Martin, and Lakin Martin, who will carry forward the light he shone on their lives.
Albert was preceded in passing by his beloved parents, Jack and Cooper Starnes; his devoted wife, Hazel Starnes; and son-in-law Johnny Hildreth.
Albert Joseph Starnes exemplified a life well-lived—rooted in faith, family, and community. His impact as a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and as a cherished friend will be remembered and treasured deeply. His presence will be profoundly missed, but his legacy endures in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Service arrangements are pending at this time, and will be announced shortly.
